Opening weekend was a wonderful experience!
What a crowd Friday night well over 450 people in attendance.

It was a pleasure and honor to
have been awarded the Heartland Prize at the Banquet Friday night.
Saturday morning after brunch,
there was more opportunity to see the exhibit and talk to some of the artists;

Big News is the reward for
working 40-70 hours a week over these past 10 months.
Since June I have made 5 quilts
in a new abstract series, 2 small pieces and 3 large quilts.
I finished just in time to enter
the 3 large abstract quilts in
It was so exciting to receive the
“You are in!” e-mail, can’t wait to hear who else got in.
This is after I received a very
special call from Karey Bresenhan of Quilts Inc. with the astonishing news that
my Quilt “Chance
Encounter!” has been awarded one of the Top Seven Awards In the 2006 IQA
show!
Since this includes a trip for me
to Quilt Festival, I’ve invited my mom to go with me.
She’s not a quilter and has
never been to a quilt show so it will be quite an experience for her.
July 2006
Handiquilter has generously
loaned me an HQ-16 with a sit down table set up!
It arrived in May and the local
sales rep, Dave Sandritter of Quilt Trends in
I spent about 2 weeks getting to
know the machine and trying all the various threads I love to use.
After quilting some sample
squares and three small quilts I was ready to tackle my new large quilt.
The Quilt Top measured 98”
wide by 82” high before quilting.
Now I have been quilting with my Janome 6500,
But even with 9” under the
machine head, I wasn’t looking forward to quilting this large quilt.
Oh, such joy to have so much
space for free motion quilting,

It was such a great honor to have
received the Master Award for innovative artistry
sponsored by Maywood Studio at the IQA
show during the 2005 Quilt festival in
What an experience, my mom spent
a week with the girls so my husband could join me in all the fun!
He finally had an opportunity to
see all the fabulous quilts from around the world at the show.
